12: Proposed Data Analysis

Hello again.

We have now come to the last section in Chapter 3 which is on Proposed Data Analysis. Since my study is a quantitative approach study, there are some statistical analysis that I believe are deemed appropriate to answer each of my research questions. The proposed data analysis is as follows:

Research Objectives

Research Questions

Data Analysis

To identify which perceptual learning styles are preferred by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature.

Which perceptual learning styles are preferred by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature?

Descriptive Statistics:

Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation

To find out the learning strategies most frequently used by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature.

What are the learning strategies most frequently used by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature?

Descriptive Statistics:

Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation

To determine the significant differences between successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in terms of perceptual learning styles and strategies used in learning literature.

Are there significant differences between successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in terms of learning styles and strategies used in learning literature?

T Test Independent Samples

Interval, Ratio

To identify if there is significant relationship between perceptual learning styles and strategies used by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature.

Is there any significant relationship between perceptual learning styles and strategies used by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students in learning literature?

Pearson Correlation

Interval, Ratio

RQ1 & RQ2

For the first and second research question, the reason I decided to use descriptive statistics is to find the mean and standard deviation of each of the dimensions in learning styles and strategies among successful and less successful learners. The mean and standard deviation will be helpful for me to know which kind of learning styles and strategies are employed the most by successful and less successful learners.

RQ3

I decided to use T Test Independent Samples to answer the third research question. This is because it is used to compare between two groups and thus suitable to my research question which is to find out the differences in learning styles and strategies between successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students.

RQ4

For my third research question, Pearson correlation is suitable to be employed in order to discover the relationship between learning styles and strategies used by successful and less successful TESL undergraduate students.
